Examinations are a major part of a student’s life. However, students are not a big fan of them.

In fact, it is a source of stress for majority of students due to several reasons.

Family pressure to score cent percent marks.

Having to study the subjects they don’t particularly enjoy or understand.

And the pressure to perform well to be in the good books of teachers.

All or few of these are a source of motivation to score well in examinations.

And this is the sad truth of our education system.

Students should want to perform well in exams because exams are an indicator of their learning — how much they have learned and how much they have understood.

Why is this not the source of motivation? Why we focus on marks and grades, but not on learning?
