Unlocking the value of education beyond
classroom walls into real life
Webinar 4 – NEP2020: The Thought Behind
When the new National Education Policy was launched on 29th July 2020, it replaced the 34-year old National Policy on Education which was being followed since 1986. A lot has changed in these 3 decades, and it was high time that our education sector takes cognizance of those changes.
NEP 2020 does that superbly well. It places students at the centre of the educational ecosystem with a plethora of initiatives to support and fulfil their academic needs, keeping in line with the current trajectory of the globally-connected digital-first world of today. It emphasizes on the need for developing cognitive skills such as critical and analytical thinking, communication and emotional intelligence, in addition to building a strong technical foundation through academics.
There’s extensive literature on NEP 2020 guidelines, and we all are aware of some of its most common recommendations that include:
- Multidisciplinary, Interdisciplinary and Holistic Education
- Equity and Inclusion in Education
- Skilled, Motivated and Energized Faculty
- Use and Integration of Technology in Education
- Global Reach of Higher Education
- Influence of Languages, Culture and Values
- Promotion and Nurturing of Innovation in Educational Institutes
- Integrated Higher Education System
We are also aware that NEP is being implemented at national, state, higher education institute and school levels.
To implement any change successfully, it’s important that all stakeholders understand the reasons behind the change. What inspired the National Education Policy 2020? What were the outcomes that the creators of this policy had in mind? Not many people talk about this or even ask these questions.
We’re sure, just like us, you too are interested in knowing what the thought was behind this game-changing educational policy.
That’s why, on 16 July, 2022, Deetya will be hosting a webinar on NEP 2020: The Thought Behind, where we will be inviting the Chief Architect of NEP 2020, Dr. K Kasturirangan and seek his insights on how he and his team architected the policy that’ll play a monumental role in shaping India’s educational and economic future.
